Okay, so we crossed over into Illinois and back into construction and traffic. Welcome home!

Last stop in Colorado

Our last day in Colorado was spent with Linda and C in Windsor/Ft. Collins. Linda and I went up to see the Red Feather Lakes area and also stopped to take a look at the Wellington area.

Even though Red Feather Lakes was beautiful it is a little too rustic for us!

Back over the mountains

We finally had to say goodbye to Cedaredge and take the long trip back over the mountains to Ft. Collins/Loveland/Windsor. It’s always a beautiful trip but very long. Only 365 miles but it took 9 hours!  The trip included a stop in Redstone, a few tunnels (Eisenhower Tunnel), and a drive thru Nederland and Estes Park. Take a peak at some of the sights:

Black Canyon of the Gunnison

Another side trip we took was to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Beautiful views of the canyon and some nice little side hikes.

Grand Mesa

One of the day-trips from Cedaredge was to go to the Grand Mesa. It was just beautiful up there and we even did a little (very little) hiking!

Spending time in Cedaredge

The bulk of our trip has been spent here in Cedaredge- on the western slope of the Rockies in Colorado.  We just love it here! It is at the topof our list for retirement areas.  So much so that we talked to a realtor today about moving here in a few years.  How exciting!

Cedaredge is on Hwy 65 right on the side of the Grand Mesa. It’s a very small, laid-back town with a cute little main street. We stayed at this same B&B last year and liked it (and the owner) so much that we wanted to stay in the same place this year too!

Here are some pictures of the B&B (Lovett House):

Aspens, Aspens everywhere!

We took the recommended Kebler Pass out of Crested Butte and over to Cedaredge.  Since it is a dirt road we kept our fingers crossed that it wasn’t too adventuresome for us “flat-landers!” It was beautiful! At several points we were surrounded by a forest of aspen trees. It was so quiet you could hear the aspen leaves rustling in the wind. Just gorgeous!

A Little More from Crested Butte

Thursday was spent rafting….in the rain….on the Upper Taylor River near Crested Butte.  Wet. Cold. Fun.

I got some more pictures of the town before we left.  Very picturesque.
